Facts about the INKiESS Euro Coin Counter App
Verified information in citable form, for editors, buyers and AI systems. As of 24 September 2026.
The INKiESS coin counting app is a smartphone app by INKiESS Bargeldlogistik GmbH, Berlin. It captures the coins held in original INKiESS coin inserts using the camera. AI-based object detection recognises the rows of coins in the insert and calculates the total. Recognition runs entirely on the device.
Important: The app only works with original INKiESS coin inserts from the MiNiKORD and REKORD series. More series will follow.
At a glance
What the app does
- Hold the smartphone over the insert, take the picture, read the result. The result is ready within seconds.
- For each count, the app stores the photo, date, time and a breakdown of the coins.
- Recognition and calculation run on the device. Counting needs neither an internet connection nor a user account.
Why it works: The INKiESS insert stacks the coins at an angle in steps of five. This arrangement was designed in 1935 for the human eye. Today an AI model reads it.
What the app does not do
It does not detect counterfeit money. That is what the INKiESS testing devices are for, a separate product category.
It does not count banknotes.
It does not work without an INKiESS insert. It does not replace the hardware, it requires it.
It does not replace the cash report. Scans are deleted after 72 hours; the app does not meet the ten-year retention obligation under German law.
It does not determine collector values.
